Brand Film
Our story
It started with a wine room, a wildly expensive quote, and a question: why doesn't the technology for this exist yet? This is how a family set out to make the hardware disappear, let the bottles float and glow, and bring more meaning to every single bottle in a collection.
Uva Cellars — The Story

Brand story — the founders on why Uva had to exist.
Jeffrey R. Gossain — CEO
The whole idea of Uva Cellars really got triggered from my parents' home. They knew they wanted a wine room. We got the quote back and it was crazy expensive — for something that's just basically a bunch of metal welded together. The technology just wasn't there. The technology just doesn't exist, and I think Uva is the first company to really integrate software and hardware into one product.
Christine R. Gossain — Marketing & Communications
For wine, there's always how you bought it, where you bought it, who gave it to you, who gifted it to you. You're not going to grab a Pepsi out of your fridge and feel emotionally attached.
Jeffrey R. Gossain — CEO
Whenever someone brought a bottle over, we would write on it physically — who brought it for me, and when, and why — just so that we remember that person when we're opening the bottle, or we might open it with them. It adds a nice touch.
Christian R. Gossain — Founder & Software
I just remember one day, walking by that room, thinking — how cool would it be if you could have lighting built right into every single cradle.
Jeffrey R. Gossain — CEO
You don't even see the hardware, you don't even see the cellar itself. You just see floating bottles that light up out of nowhere, and it's just magical.
Mathew Bussière — CTO
We had to get the team aligned right from day one on what's our design philosophy. We have to remember that what our clients are displaying is the most important thing. The wine bottle is the focus. As much as we're passionate about the cradles that we build, they need to disappear behind the scenes. And so does the technology.
Stéphane Bussière — COO
We realized — wait a minute, who's going to make this thing look good? So Lauren filled a gap that we had in our team. And once that happened, it was like you had all the missing pieces, right? You had all the keys in the ignition and turned at the same time.
Lauren McDavid — Brand & Aesthetics
How can we actually make them blend into a wall? How can it look like they're just floating in a space, rather than these modular pieces that you're seeing? How can it maybe look a little bit more structural and more integral to the design?
Christine R. Gossain — Marketing & Communications
It's just a beautiful shape of light on its own. And when you multiply that on a wall, it just looks so beautiful. You could play with the gradients, and the fact that we could do it in so many different finishes and wood — it's made for any room, any space.
Jeffrey R. Gossain — CEO
I think a lot of people are curious about wine and want to understand the basics. We look at Uva as being able to unlock that. We want to teach people little gems of information that they can elevate their knowledge about wine bit by bit by using the Smart Sommelier app. Imagine you came over and gifted me a bottle of this on my wedding day. I remember you gifted me one — which one was it? And it'll light up, and I bring it, and we open it and share that experience together. We want to bring more meaning to every single bottle you have in your collection.
